Jason Lavigne is a new Canadian politician who is running to represent the federal electoral district of Yellowhead Alberta in the House of Commons of Canada in the 45th Canadian federal election.
Jason was born in northern Manitoba and was raised on the prairies around Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and later attended Fort Richmond Collegiate in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Prior to returning to the prairies in 2021 to start building a family homestead near Breton, Alberta, with his wife and two young boys, Jason was a serial entrepreneur with an early passion for building event ticketing engines in the cloud while living and working in the Greater Toronto Area.
In 2003 TicketBreak, an alternative to TicketMaster, was founded in the Toronto area by John Derlis. In 2005 Jason joined TicketBreak to become the lead software developer and later the CTO. In 2009 TicketBreak, along with the founder John and Jason, was acquired by Maple Core. In 2016, with John and Jason as active shareholders, TicketBreak was acquired by TicketFly.
In 2010 Jason created the service Connect2Fans that expanded on the fan experience with artists.
In 2013 while working with the Regional Innovation Centre of Mississauga Jason was named the new Program Director for Silicon Peel, a grassroots start-up incubator in the Peel Region of Ontario.
Following a steep decline of the music industry by 2014, Jason, along with business partner Saadia Muzaffar, created a business called Revvly that focused on providing event ticketing via a Platform as a Service.
Jason, along with Saadia, received the 2014 Brampton Outstanding Business Achievement Award for Innovation & Technology from the City of Brampton for their work on Revvly.
In 2016 Jason returned to school as a mature student and earned an honours degree in law, writing and passing the Law Society of Upper Canada Paralegal exam on his 40th birthday.
In 2017 Jason fulfilled a life long passion and obtained his private pilot’s license from Lachute Aviation.
In 2018 Jason joined the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry where he subsequently received the 2020 Innovation Sustainability and Leadership Award.
In 2020 Jason continued to extend on his education and earned a PMP certification from McGill University.
In July 2022 Jason launched his independent campaign for federal office from his homestead in Breton Alberta.
Our federal government has not been doing a great job of listening to us. I am fighting for our farmers, our truckers, the silent majority, the fed-up, and all my marginalized neighbours.
I am calling for new protections and reclaiming of rights for all Canadians of all ages. We need independent provinces under a new unified agreement with Canada.
And to further protect Canadians for generations to come we need Parliamentary, statute, and regulatory review, rollbacks, and reform.
If you have any passion, do not wait. Chase it. Now. You never get tomorrow back so don't waste another day. At any age the answer is yes, you can do it.
Learning to fly was a privilege and honour. Thank you to all the fine people who made that dream possible. "Golf November Victor Oscar on short final".
Join me as I takeoff and land on my first solo in Lachute, Quebec. Enjoy the views as I fly over the Niagara Falls, then take in the sights of Toronto and the CN Tower. Make sure to watch to the end as I receive a splash of cold reality.
In the very early days of the Covid pandemic, I anticipated and identified the urgent need to prepare for what ended up being the first lockdown implemented in Ontario in March of 2020. Staff would need to be remote.
The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry were fully prepared.
“Thanks to his initiative, when County and Municipal staff were sent to work from home, we were ready to go right from the start…this innovative thinking enabled approximately a hundred County and Municipal staff to work securely from home at no additional cost.”
Thank you to the City of Brampton Economic Development Office for the honour of awarding us your 2014 BOBAA for Innovation & Technology.
Often overshadowed by City of Toronto and City of Mississauga, the City of Brampton has the most dedicated and talented staff who really care about their community and businesses.
Going back to school later in life requires a balance between study and family.
TriOS College and the City of Brampton provided that opportunity to 100s of law students just like me succeed and graduate.
Without the assistance of gov't loans and programs, my classroom would've been empty.
Many from that graduating class have gone on to build great careers and do very big things with their second career. Thinking about going back? Do it!
Pro Tip: If you are going to do your pilot solo in Quebec, when your flight instructor runs away after you land, look behind you! (watch what they did)
I learned this the hard way, you gotta keep one eye open at all times in Quebec.
Thank you Lachute Aviation and Nicolas Horn, amazing people, miss you all!
Je suis désolé, combien sont dans le circuit?
Feels like just yesterday when Saadia Muzaffar and I were nominated for the 2014 Brampton Outstanding Business Achievement Awards (BOBAA) for Innovation & Technology.
Some of the best years with one of the most amazing business and social minds in the Greater Toronto Area. It is an eat or be eaten jungle in the GTA, and not only did we survive, we thrived. In a couple short years we went from less than nothing (there was a credit card) to international sales and staff.
I learned so much, thanks Saad!
"Cloud computing seems to be in vogue these days!"
That was 10 years ago when people started to notice this thing called a "cloud".
To a few of us in tech at the time we knew cloud computing was anything but vogue and the beginning of something big.
Appearing with John Weigelt, CTO of Microsoft Canada, and Larry Ellison, Co-founder Oracle Corporation, on CTV News National was an honour for this prairie boy.
A decade ago I sat with Jonathan Rozenblit from Microsoft Canada to break down how we were working together to push the boundaries of Microsoft Cloud computing.
The early days were exciting, anything was possible, and nothing was stopping us. Things are a lot different today, and it is now much harder to trust big tech.
Working in big tech has given me a very unique inside view of how all of that works. With decades behind the scenes, I've seen it all so you don't have to.
I'm ready to get down to business
If you are, consider supporting me
"Dreams we have don't ever fall away
We can't live 'em if we stay the same
And I can't do this for another day
So let's get down, let's get down to business"
